One of the last days of the season
And the weather is great. 10-12 knots and steady. 75 degrees and sunny. Yeeehaw!!!
Very nice photos. I remember that was a very nice sailing day.
Comment: on a loose footed sail it is recommended not to tie the reef points (nettles) around the boom but around the foot of the reefed sail. That puts much less strain on the reef-point eyelets and gives a neater tuck to the reef (The Sailmaker's Apprentice, pg.459).
The Sail Doctor also says that it can be helpful in distinguishing one reef row from another - or rather one row that has been tied in from another - to have the nettles a different color or material. Furthermore, successive reefs can be tied in on opposite sides of the sail.
